Minnesota Parent welcomes information about events for families throughout the state. Following these recommendations gives your event a better chance of being featured in print and/or online:
Types of events
Family-friendly: We prefer to feature events that are accessible to the whole family and generally eschew those that involve dropping a child off at a location, or are exclusively adult-focused.
Event fees: We prefer to feature FREE or low-cost events though we do recognize the value of an event that requires a higher ticketing cost (such as a traveling Broadway or musical production). We will not be able to promote your for-profit business events, such as a week long camp, as an event.
You can submit a listing at any time, but the deadline for consideration in the print issue is six weeks prior to the month of the publication.
Provide as much information as you can in regard to location, time, cost and contact point. Keep the description relatively brief, with a maximum of 150 words.
Ongoing vs. Specific Events
Ongoing events are those events taking place over the course of more than three consecutive days (for example, the MN State Fair stretches over 10 days) Specific events take place on one day, or on various non-consecutive days (for example, every Tuesday and Thursday for a period of time).
Event Photos (optional)
High resolution, print quality images will be considered for the print publication; low res photos are for online usage only. Please feel free to submit online or provide a dropbox link for your images. Keep the photo topical to your event.
Remember, events are chosen at the editor's discretion. Not all events will be included in the calendar
